Horror Film Trailers

We watched the trailer for Amityville: The Awakening and analysed different media aspects in it:

- CAM SAMC: mostly consisted of close up wide shots and zoom.

- MES: haunted isolated house, dolls.

- EDITING: lots of transitions are used to switch from scenes, however the transitions linked well to the theme with the sound effects added (hospital/machine like beeps). Also as the trailer went on the transition went from fade to black to straight cuts.

- SOUND: score music, heavy breathing, incidental music when boy awakens.

 we also focused on:

- Codes and conventions: female is the victim, the house is has a back story of why its haunted, there are teenagers involved.
  - Representation: characters are outsiders, dolls reflect characters after death.

 - Audience: after watching the trailer I would say the trailer is a 15. With an audience of both male and females, between 15 and 25 (young adults).

- Institution, the producer that produced paranormal activity, insidious and sinister also produced this film therefore has inherited audiences which is a benefit for them.

we also wrote out our trailer in detail focusing on particular aspects:
