Film Treatment -Gombie

Gombie – Film Treatment

The trailer begins with an establishing shot of Zoey’s house. It is late evening, everything is still and quiet.

00:05
A mid shot of ZOEY (Young teenage zombie girl) in the corner of her bedroom is seen from behind. She is sobbing whilst on the phone to her friend CLAIRE (young teenage human) asking her to come over because something has happened. Claire’s voice is heard through the phone.

Claire is seen from a wide angle approaching the house from behind. She is shown knocking on the door but the door swings open into a dark empty house. A variety of shots and angles are used to show Claire entering the house and making her way upstairs. A build-up of tension is used until Claire enters Zoey’s room. Once Claire enters her room, Zoey turns around and we discover she is a zombie.

Claire and Zoey are in Zoey’s room curling eachothers hair. Close ups shots are seen of Zoey’s hair before her face is revealed. A tilt is used to reveal Zoey and her hair. A shot reverse shot is used to show the contrast of Claire and her nice hair, and Zoey and her frizzy dead hair.

Both girls are seen exchanging selfies over text in their bedrooms. The girls are shown as equal and normal by doing the same task, but their looks show them as unequal.

On the street, Zoey meets a stranger and shakes their hand but ends in it falling off. This surprises the stranger, but Zoey doesn’t think anything of it. Close ups are shown of both characters to show the contrast of reaction.

Zoey and Claire are walking down the street dressed in fancy dress, they walk past two boys (TIM and MAX). Max and Claire look at eachother infatuated, whilst Zoey looks at Tim because he is dressed as a zombie which makes her infatuated with him. This shows their similarities of teenage girls. Mid shots and close ups are used, with slow motion and romantic music following.

Claire and Zoey are in Claire’s room filing eachother nails. Close ups are used to show the contrast between both girls nails. Claire’s nails are shown as pretty, whereas Zoey’s are broken and falling apart. They are shown bloody and all over the floor. Claire sympathises with Zoey.

Zoey and Claire are in their bedrooms, a split screen is seen of them sticking up posters; Claire a normal hot guy, whereas Zoey is sticking up a poster of a zombie guy.

The POSTMAN is putting mail through the letter box, but Zoey has the urge to eat his hand. Match on action is used between Zoey and the postman.

Zoey and Claire are seen having dinner in the kitchen. Claire is eating normal food, whereas Zoey is eating a brain. Zoey’s table manners don’t match up to Claire’s. Claire’s reaction is shown through a close up.

01:15
Zoey and Claire are at Claire’s house. Zoey is in Claire’s room with her boyfriend Tim. Match on action is used to show Zoey trying to bite him and him struggling. Claire’s voice is heard, which results in Tim being shoved in the cupboard and he falls out when Claire enters the room and asks if he’s been seen.
