Gombie – Film Treatment
00:00
The trailer begins with an establishing shot of Zoey’s house. It is late evening, everything is still and quiet.
00:05
A mid shot of ZOEY (Young teenage zombie girl) in the corner of her bedroom is seen from behind. She is sobbing whilst on the phone to her friend CLAIRE (young teenage human) asking her to come over because something has happened. Claire’s voice is heard through the phone.
00:10
Claire is seen from a wide angle approaching the house from behind. She is shown knocking on the door but the door swings open into a dark empty house. A variety of shots and angles are used to show Claire entering the house and making her way upstairs. A build-up of tension is used until Claire enters Zoey’s room. Once Claire enters her room, Zoey turns around and we discover she is a zombie.
00:20
Claire and Zoey are in Zoey’s room curling eachothers hair. Close ups shots are seen of Zoey’s hair before her face is revealed. A tilt is used to reveal Zoey and her hair. A shot reverse shot is used to show the contrast of Claire and her nice hair, and Zoey and her frizzy dead hair.
00:25
Both girls are seen exchanging selfies over text in their bedrooms. The girls are shown as equal and normal by doing the same task, but their looks show them as unequal.
00:30
On the street, Zoey meets a stranger and shakes their hand but ends in it falling off. This surprises the stranger, but Zoey doesn’t think anything of it. Close ups are shown of both characters to show the contrast of reaction.
00:35
Zoey and Claire are walking down the street dressed in fancy dress, they walk past two boys (TIM and MAX). Max and Claire look at eachother infatuated, whilst Zoey looks at Tim because he is dressed as a zombie which makes her infatuated with him. This shows their similarities of teenage girls. Mid shots and close ups are used, with slow motion and romantic music following.
00:45
Claire and Zoey are in Claire’s room filing eachother nails. Close ups are used to show the contrast between both girls nails. Claire’s nails are shown as pretty, whereas Zoey’s are broken and falling apart. They are shown bloody and all over the floor. Claire sympathises with Zoey.
00:50
Zoey and Claire are in their bedrooms, a split screen is seen of them sticking up posters; Claire a normal hot guy, whereas Zoey is sticking up a poster of a zombie guy.
00:55
The POSTMAN is putting mail through the letter box, but Zoey has the urge to eat his hand. Match on action is used between Zoey and the postman.
01:05
Zoey and Claire are seen having dinner in the kitchen. Claire is eating normal food, whereas Zoey is eating a brain. Zoey’s table manners don’t match up to Claire’s. Claire’s reaction is shown through a close up.
01:15
Zoey and Claire are at Claire’s house. Zoey is in Claire’s room with her boyfriend Tim. Match on action is used to show Zoey trying to bite him and him struggling. Claire’s voice is heard, which results in Tim being shoved in the cupboard and he falls out when Claire enters the room and asks if he’s been seen.

Mood Board And Deconstruction
Deconstruction of mood board:
Locations/setting: indoors (party and chair (bedroom)) outdoors (pathways (heart))
Characters: 2 girl bestfriends, 1 zombie costume boy 1 normal human
Themes: horror (through the make up, costumes, props) comedy (montage settings (mailbox, rusty nails, fake arm)
Lighting: a mixture of low key lighting (dark room with lamp) and high key lighting (outside scenes)
Sound: phone and party
Colour Tones: dark colours (blacks/Browns/reds)
MES: specific montage props (nails, hair brush, fake arm, posters)
Meaning: I did all the images in black and white as the background then the same image but in colour to make them stand out and also to show the contrast.
Which symbolises the contrast between the Bestfriends.
Each image links, 2 bestfriends the phone call, the chair in the corner, the acceptance of being a zombie, putting up posters, the mail box, the arm falling off, the doing of the hair and nails going wrong.
I tried to make the contrast between the 2 bestfriends very clear by showing their different type of ideal boyfriends (zombie and Ronaldo) and also the nice light make up and the heavy dark black eyes and cuts on mouth and eyes.

Horror Film Trailers
We watched the trailer for Amityville: The Awakening and analysed different media aspects in it:
- CAM SAMC: mostly consisted of close up wide shots and zoom.
- MES: haunted isolated house, dolls.
- EDITING: lots of transitions are used to switch from scenes, however the transitions linked well to the theme with the sound effects added (hospital/machine like beeps). Also as the trailer went on the transition went from fade to black to straight cuts.
- SOUND: score music, heavy breathing, incidental music when boy awakens.
we also focused on:
- Codes and conventions: female is the victim, the house is has a back story of why its haunted, there are teenagers involved.
- Representation: characters are outsiders, dolls reflect characters after death.
- Audience: after watching the trailer I would say the trailer is a 15. With an audience of both male and females, between 15 and 25 (young adults).
- Institution, the producer that produced paranormal activity, insidious and sinister also produced this film therefore has inherited audiences which is a benefit for them.
we also wrote out our trailer in detail focusing on particular aspects:
